Our mission is to honour the legacy of Janet Frazer by fostering love, kindness, and support within our communities, providing assistance and resources to those in need, and empowering single-parent families to thrive. We are committed to carrying forward Janet Frazer’s spirit of compassion and resilience. Our values are rooted in love, kindness, inclusivity, and empowerment, ensuring that every act of service reflects the warmth and generosity she brought to the world.

At the Janet Frazer Extraordinaire Foundation, we understand the importance of giving back to the community. Our team of caring professionals works tirelessly to identify and address the unique needs of the individuals and families we serve. Through our various programs and initiatives, we strive to offer holistic support that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit.

The Janet Frazer Extraordinaire Foundation was founded by Tashoy McKenzie-
Pearson, a Healthcare Professional, Criminologist, Philanthropist, Registered Marriage
Officiant, and Entrepreneur. Born in Jamaica, then later migrated to Canada after the death of her mother. The foundation is named in honour of her mother, Janet Frazer, who passed away from ovarian cancer.
The foundation Tashoy created to honor her mother donates to those in need at various
times throughout the year, not only in Jamaica but also in Canada, with plans to expand
globally.

Tashoy credits her mother’s big heart and selfless spirit as the inspiration for starting the
foundation. “I started the Janet Frazer Extraordinaire Foundation in memory of my
mother, who passed away when I was just a teenager—she had ovarian cancer,” she
explained. “Growing up in Jamaica, we weren’t wealthy, but she always taught us to
give what we could and to be kind to others.” She shared a memory that exemplifies her
mother’s philosophy: “I remember when I was about 13 or 14 years old, I woke up one
morning and noticed some of my shoes were missing from my rack. As I walked out to
the veranda, I saw bags of my own clothes and shoes. I asked my mother what was
going on, and she explained she was donating my things to our neighbour’s child, as
most of the items were barely worn or brand new.”

Tashoy was not upset about giving away her items, but rather that her mother had not
mentioned it to her first. Her mother’s calm response left a lasting impact: “She told me
it was fine to keep my belongings, but I would have to tell the girl my decision myself.
She walked away, and later, when the little girl arrived, her face lit up with the biggest
smile, full of excitement and joy. At that moment, I realized I couldn’t take away that joy.
I gave her all the items and even went to my room to find more to give. I will never
forget that day. Now I understand why my mom did what she did. It was a test to see if
she had raised me well, and a test for me to see if I would be selfish just because she
hadn’t asked first.”

Tashoy hopes to change the lives of those who are truly in need and want to excel
academically or as entrepreneurs to improve their lives and create a better future for

generations to come. She will continue to give and sow into the lives of others as much
as she can and have been doing alone, but she encourages other businesses and
individuals to reach out if they want to contribute to the cause. “We have several
donation drives throughout the year, but we always need school supplies, gift
certificates from bookstores and gift certificates from grocery stores for families. People
don’t always have to donate funds; supplies and gift certificates are just as valuable to
us. We actually prefer those to avoid any complications. I’d rather spend my own
money, as I have been doing.”

“We always appreciate donations from partners. We show our supporters
on social media where the donations are going and exactly who received them. While I
don’t love this idea—since I’ve been donating privately for years before I even had a
foundation with a name —But now that I have a foundation, I share these updates to
protect the foundation, encourage others to give back, and show that we are an active
foundation. Those who criticize the most though are often the ones who go by every
year yet never lift a finger to help anyone in society, so we’ve learned to silence the
noise. Many people think you can only give back with money, but sometimes
the best thing you can offer is your time. Whether it’s making a post on social media
about a positive cause, helping someone cross the street, or volunteering at a food
bank or shelter, every act of kindness counts.”

“I have to publicly thank my sister, Sashoy Mckenzie, for always donating her time. I rely on Sashoy to represent me in Jamaica when I am not able to be there. She donates her time, and time is just as valuable as money. I’m so grateful for their time and efforts—God sees it too.”
